This event was well attended with 5 boats moored outside the Surlingham Ferry Inn and 15 members siiting down for some great food and drink provided by Sonia and her team. The evening was enjoyed by all who attended and we extended the event by enjoying a full breakfast in the pub the next morning.

This was my first event as local coordinator, thankyou to everyone who suppoted it and I look forward to your ideas for future events.

Broom owners turned out in force once again this year at the London Boat Show to celebrate another year's boating, and look forward to the new season afloat. The show itself has struggled to attract both exhibitors and visitors, but the Broom Owners Club have enjoyed a bumper year of new memberships and renewals and continues to fill a vital role - introducing members to one another and providing opportunities to get together, so that they can get even more use and enjoyment out of their Broom boat.

Broom Boats have now confirmed their plans for the London Boat Show and they will be having a stand in the main hall along with some of their dealers (Stand number L112). This means that our annual Boat Show party now has a location and so is definitely ON!

Broom's and the BOC will be sharing the cost of the refreshments (they're buying the wine; we're buying the nibbles!) so we are delighted to invite all members to join us on the Broom stand on the evening of Thursday 12th January 2012 from 6.30pm.

Diamond Jubilee PageantOpportunity to represent Norfolk and Broom in the Queen’s Pageant on the Thames 2012

The Queens Boat Pageant on the Tidal Thames is to be held on 3rdJune 2012. Through Martin Broom, our club has been invited by the Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk to provide a Broom Boat and its crew to represent the county and to have four or five of their dignitaries on board with them. Obviously this will represent a guaranteed place for this boat subject to the vessel and its crew complying with the overall registration conformance required by the organising committee.

In conjunction with other committee members and after further discussions with Martin Broom a way forward to select the representative has been agreed.

BOC go it alone at the London Boat Show PDF Print E-mail

After all the doubts and uncertainties of late 2010 – would Broom still be building, would they have a stand , did they want to work with BOC – it was great to be able to announce plans and issue invitations for the traditional Thursday night Boat Show party.

Of course things were a bit different this year. With only one boat on display and the stand jointly funded by the dealers, space was limited and facilities less lavish. However despite having to contribute towards costs, the event was well supported with over 40 BOC members turning up to share a glass of wine and celebrate the re-birth of Broom with new owner, Mark Garner.

It was good to meet some old friends from Broom, people like Jason and Colin Boast and Andrew Stone, along with the new faces and the new corporate livery. Gone is the familiar red of the Broom name, replaced by navy lettering on silver background. You can spot the Broom staff in the photo from their distinctive black “gilets”.
