Sea Survival and Limehouse Rendezvous PDF Print E-mail

There's been a suggestion that if we move this event back a week to the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, we could combine it with a Limehouse rendezvous for those wishing to visit by boat for the weekend. This could provide some accommodation for those wishing to attend the training event, and for those who didn't want to attend the training, but wanted to join in with the rendezvous we could have dinner together on the Saturday evening.

Of course we could also do this on the original date, but the long weekend might make it easier for more people to attend, as long as they did not already have other commitments for that date. The other complicating factor is that the 26th April (edited-LB) is the date of the London marathon which can have implications for those wishing to arrive in the city by car.

Can I have your comments on whether this would make a good programme for the weekend?

Friday 1 May Optional arrival at Limehouse by boat

Saturday 2 May Optional Sea Survival training course at Greenwich (travel by DLR)

Saturday evening BOC dinner at CA House

Sunday 3 May (Committee meeting at CA House for BOC committee members)

Sunday 3 /Monday 4 May  Return cruise to home moorings

Committee members - please note: this would be an alternative to the proposed 26th April meeting)

Thanks! I've changed it. I have a mental block on those dates!

I am happy with either weekend but suggest we decide soon as places in
Limehouse are likely to be hard to come by. Don

Clearly trying to get to the sea safety training on the weekend of the 'ANC' in
Greenwich would almost certainly be difficult.

However since I wasn't
intending to attend, then I won't get involved.

I will be writing separately
on the subject of the committee meeting since that is not something for an open
forum.

I think that the later weekend would be better for a combined weekend event, but
we realy need some feedback from members! so come on everyone and let us know if
you would like to support this event which I think would prove to be a very
enjoyable weekend

The May weekend would be better for us if possible

Unfortunately, we are already going to a BOC Southern Region get-together at
Yarmouth over the May Bank Holiday weekend, so although we would very much like
to attend the training, we can't that weekend. As it looks so far that most
people do prefer the May weekend, we will just have to miss the training.
Sorry!

The marathon weekend is getting booked up according to Robyn at Limehouse. I'm
running in the marathon so have booked in for that period and hopefully could
extend to cover the May weekend and would look forward to meeting up, having
dinner and maybe a cruise durint the day? Regards, David (Kohaku)

Sorry I can't come during May
as I will be on the Broads

The May Bank Holiday would suit me better as I definitely can't manage the
weekend before. I really like the idea of coming by boat as I was already making
tentative plans for a cruise to London this year. It's a bit earlier than I was
planning but if the weather's OK ...

Sadly I now find I am in Scotland on Mayday weekend - long standing plan which I
failed to put in the diary. Howvever I will be taking my boat up to Limehouse,
Friday 24th April (because I rather fancy being there for the Marathon) and I
have asked about available places for BOC boats for w/e of May 1st to 4th.
Robyn was vague as ever but I think we can safely assume she would squeeze in at
least four more visitors.  She will call me next Monday to advise.

We are interested in coming to Limehouse at the beginning of May, we are
planning a trip up the Thames this summer and this could be the start!.

I don't think we can make either date, much as we would like to.
