Despite the upheaval at Brooms we are expecting to go ahead with our annual owners' weekend in November, albeit with a slightly revised schedule.
On the Saturday morning we will still be visiting the Broom yard in Brundall. Although it is not certain there will still be new boats in build, we will be able to have a tour of the remaining elements of the business, including the moulding facility, the service centre and the various specialist workshops. A popular element of these weekends has always been the opportunity to take a cruise on the River Yare, hosted by local members, and volunteers permitting we hope to include this as part of the weekend again this year. If you keep your boat in Norfolk (or would like to take it there) and would be willing to be a host for this part of the event, I would be grateful if you could contact me to let me know your availability. Moorings will be made available at Brooms yard for those members not normally based there, and of course, you also have the option of using your boat as your accommodation base for the weekend, and registering for the weekend at the day delegate rate. We are planning to provide a buffet lunch for everyone at the yard prior to setting out on boats, so there is no catering requirement as part of your commitment, although some members have enjoyed offering some informal hospitality to their guests en route in the past! Booking forms will be available for the weekend as soon as we are able to finalise the arrangements, but as you will understand, circumstances beyond my control have complicated things slightly.
