I have been boating on the Broads every year from the age of 6 months (43 years), starting with hire cruisers and  then purchasing an ex hire Elysian 27 with aft cockpit. We kept that 5 years and ended up selling that and going back to hire craft for 10 years. I decided a project was in order and by chance came upon Captain Cook (a Broom Captain built in 1950) languishing on the Blackwater estuary looking very sorry for itself. We brought her back to Norwich and have spent over 5 years restoring her back to her former glory. The restoration continues and hope to be finished for the summer of 2012. Trace and I joined the BOC at the 2011 London boat show and haven’t looked back since. We take the boat out nearly every Sunday as Saturdays are reserved for restoration. Anyone wishing to join us on the river or are merely interested in my little project please drop me a line.
