Beccles meet, August Bank Holiday - there are just two berths left for this weekend, which is now extending to the Monday night at a members private mooring for a hog roast (may only be a small hog !). Let me know soonest as we will need to advise the harbour master if we do not want the full quota of berths pre-booked. Great Yarmouth sea pageant - the organisers idea of having a flotilla of small boats to escort the sailing ships out to sea has been vetoed by the harbour authority on the grounds of safety. Thursday 14th July – On the Island, at Brooms, Brundall – from 6.30pm
As some of you may be aware, Vic Hodson will be retiring at the next AGM and it would be good to meet with as many of the Eastern region members as possible to discuss any ideas about how this region could develop in the future, to discuss what being on the committee is about and if anyone might consider taking on the co-ordinators job from November 2011 onwards. Mark Garner of Broom Boats has kindly offered us the facility of having a BBQ on “The Island” at Brundall and he will be coming along as well. Vic will be there with Mo, and will be able to give his view on the joys of being a regional coordinator, and I have also asked Louise Busby to join us so we will be able to also discuss any issues about the Norfolk AGM in November and any matters on using our web site. It would be good to meet as many as of you as possible that evening and we will plan to have the BBQ going from 6.30 pm. Some wine and soft drinks will be provided but we do of course have a pub available nearby for other ones as required. Costs will be £5.00 a head for the food (including some wine). To help us with catering arrangements, it would help if you could please send your payments in advance with cheques made out to “Broom Owners Club” to Louise Busby (1 Ovingham Gardens, Wideopen, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE13 6JT - please mention any special dietary requirements when booking). These should be received by 8th July at the latest. Come by boat or come by car or train – all members or potential members and their families are welcome.

For the annual meet at Beccles for Broads based boats over the August Bank Holiday I have booked 10 berths at the yacht station for the Saturday and Sundat evenings. If you would like to join in this annual barbecue and general get together, please let me know by e-mail or phone. There are a number of regular attendees, but if you haven't been before, you can look forward to meeting some friendly people and be sure of a warm welcome. Vic Hodson
